Boarding at Avalon Farm

Avalon Farm offers superior care for your horse or pony.  Our modern facilities, immaculate grounds, and attention to detail have helped us win the Massachusetts Farm Bureau's Horse Farm of Distinction Award every year since 1997.

Our main barn was built in 1993, and has a bright, open, airy feel. It has 12x12, and 14x12 stalls, each with a window, overhead skylight, and rubber stall mats. Click to enlarge

Our open stall gates allow horses to be sociable

We have a tack room with individual saddle and bridle racks, and space for small trunks.  A separate feed room also has space for blanket and sheet storage. There is a wash stall with year-around hot/cold water. An auxiliary barn has 2 stalls with individual sand walkouts.

Every morning each horse is inspected and groomed. We also change blankets or sheets in the morning and evening as the weather demands.

There is daily turnout to one of several grass pastures or sand turnouts. Turnout can be individual or in small groups, depending upon the temperament and needs of each horse. Click to enlarge
The horses receive four hay feedings and three grain feedings balanced throughout the day. We can accommodate most special dietary or supplement needs.  Stalls are cleaned in the morning, and picked at noon, 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm. Buckets are scrubbed daily.
Owners can use any veterinarian and blacksmith they chose. The regular barn vet is Dr. Dana Pantano of Black Pond Veterinary Service.  The regular farrier is Bob Vieira.

The barn is open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.  We are open every day, since Elaine and Curt also live here, and horses can't read a calendar. The house is at the entrance to the property and overlooks the barns and turnout areas. The main barn is electronically monitored.

The monthly boarding charge is currently $700.  If your horse requires services above and beyond the regular care, they can be arranged for an additional charge.  We do have experience caring for horses with special needs such as; navicular disease, chronic laminitis, Cushing's disease, ulcers and respiratory allergies.
